The Clinical Edge
The Clinical Edge is a series of brief commentaries on topics of current interest in HIV care, prevention, and policy from the faculty of the UCSF HIV/AIDS Division at San Francisco General Hospital. It is sponsored by HIV InSite.
The Division's faculty members have been at the forefront of HIV care and research for more than 30 years. Our practice at SFGH's Ward 86 is the first multidisciplinary outpatient clinic in the world dedicated to the care of patients with HIV/AIDS.
Please be advised that the authors' views are their own and are not intended to provide medical advice for specific patients.
Drs. Matthew Spinelli and Monica Gandhi examine the evidence that persons living with HIV who have undetectable viral loads on effective antiretroviral treatment have effectively no risk of passing the virus to an uninfected partner.
